The Wonderlicious Event Overview

The Wonderlicious event is essentially similar to a raffle, except that you're guaranteed to get a chocolate bar for your money.

The PTA sells chocolate bars to children and parents for around £2 to £3 per bar. Inside the bar you have the chance of finding a golden ticket, which entitles you to a prize.

Prizes

It's up to the PTA to generate prizes. There are a lot of different types of prizes you can raise, from meals at local restaurants and tickets to local attractions, to internal school experiences such as not wearing your uniform on a certain day, or your class getting a movie night at school. We've created a dedicated page containing different prize ideas to give you ideas.

Selling

In terms of selling bars, this again depends on how you can best sell them at your school. Some schools will take orders via their school systems, and others sell them from a table after school, or at a summer faire, etc. This can be done over several weeks until all your bars are sold.

Which Bar?

There are different options available for the type of chocolate bar you use. The Galaxy bars contain an inner gold foil which makes them the nicest choice as you can place your golden ticket inside the foil. They are the most expensive to purchase though, at around 95p a bar from Bookers.

Another option is the Cadbury's Dairy Milk bar which is a similar price to the Galaxy bar, but in completely packaging. Each of our wrappers are different colours, in order to best match the specific chocolate bar you've chosen.

For a cheaper alternative, Tesco, Aldi and Asda, all offer a much cheaper 100g milk chocolate bar. They tend to price match these against each other, with the price currently being 45p per bar. These are a good choice if you'd like to sell your bars at around the £2 mark. You could also offer a combination of bars at different prices and let the buyer choose.

Gluing the Wrapper

Attaching the wrapper to the chocolate bar is very easy. You could use a standard glue stick, but we recommend using glue tape, as it's so easy to apply quickly and without any mess. We like the Crafter's Companion tape available at Amazon. It costs £3.99 per tape and will seal around 250 wrappers. You can see it in action in the video below.
